Rusape — The Rusape Regional Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 32-year-old man to 20 years in prison for raping his 9-year-old stepdaughter.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe NPAZ, the offence occurred on 9 February 2026 at around 0600 hours. The victim’s mother had gone to work and left the child in the man’s custody. He instructed the girl to take a bath, then called her to his bedroom where he raped her. The case was exposed after the child confided in her mother.
The NPAZ said the offender “abused the trust bestowed on him to take care of the minor” and added that “people of his ilk deserve to face the full wrath of the law.”
