In a heartwarming gesture, Rescu Sheltered Workshop has donated a range of rehabilitation accessories to the Health Promotion Clinic Trust. The donation includes hard neck collars, leg splints, hand splints, and colostomy bags, aimed at supporting patients in Harare’s peri-urban areas and other remote communities.
The Founder and Director of Health Promotion Clinic Trust, Bigboy Madzivanzira received the donation, which will go a long way in providing essential care to those in need. The Trust is particularly focused on distributing knee splints to stroke patients, who require these devices to regain mobility and stand with confidence.
A standout part of the donation is an artificial foot given to a lady in Forester Estates, who had been using an old gumshoe tied with wires. This life-changing gift will greatly improve her mobility and quality of life .
Speaking at the handover, Mr Fungai Mawerera, highlighted the value of partnerships, saying, “Partnerships are the best. We specialise in equipment repair and manufacture, artificial limbs fitting. Health Promotion Clinic Trust runs a Community Based Rehabilitation Programme hence our aims are the same but different approaches.” He added that the organisations collaborate closely, with Mr Madzivanzira assisting with clinical assessments while Rescu’s technical team works on producing the necessary items.
This donation builds on previous support, including five bicycles received by HPCT’s Community Rehabilitation Workers program in 2025, further strengthening the partnership between the two organisations.
The rehabilitation accessories will be used to support community outreach programs in Harare’s peri-urban areas, where access to healthcare services can be limited. The Health Promotion Clinic Trust is working to identify patients who will benefit from the donation and will likely collaborate with local healthcare providers to ensure the resources reach those who need them most.
This generous donation from Rescu Sheltered Workshop will make a significant difference in the lives of patients requiring rehabilitation services.
