Zimdancehall artist ,Takura Chiwoniso has admitted to opening a new chapter in his life , saying no to drugs which had affected his upcoming career in the music industry.
Blot is the stage name of Zimbabwean Zimdancehall artist Takura Chiwoniso. Blot rose to fame in 2016 with his hit song “Ndiri Bad” on the Stage Riddim promoted by Chill Spot Records. Born in 1996 in Kwekwe, Blot has become one of the most sought-after artists in the Zimdancehall scene, known for his energetic performances and impactful lyrics.
Recently, Blot has been open about his struggles with drug addiction, checking into Matrix Rehabilitation Centre in Goromonzi for treatment and rehabilitation. He was arrested in 2023 for possession of crystal meth, but has since spoken candidly about his journey to recovery, urging young people to avoid substance abuse.
At a send off ceremony for at least 13 youth including Takura Chiwoniso AKA ‘Blot’, who received treatment, rehabilitation and training skills at Matrix Discipline and Training Center, Tafadzwa Chidawu, President of the institution said young people from many areas and other countries are being imparted with life saving skills and being helped to shun drugs.
Blot said at the graduation ceremony that he was in a new version and thanked President Emmerson Mnangagwa for spreading the gospel against drugs including Prophet Kudakwashe Jose and Matrix for his rehabilitation. He also thanked Chipaz Promotions family for the support rendered to him during the trying times. Blot also thanked Tawanda Mwedzi AKA Tony Bindura his manager at Grenade Next Generation (GNG), who has widely promoted his music. Bindura said Blot was severely affected by drugs and is now in a new era.
Bindura said if it was not drugs, Blot could now have been performing at an international stage. He said some promoters were beginning to shun him, but he hoped that the rehabilitation has helped him to start a fresh chapter. Overseer Allan Besent representing Victorious Generation lnternational Church Prophet Kudakwashe Jose said the church helped to support Blot’s rehabilitation programme.
Bindura said Blot is billed to share the stage with other Zimbabwe’s prominent musical artists like Jah Prayzah and Winky D on 31 December,2025 in Harare.
