The City of Harare Standing Committee for Sports Chairman, Cllr Stanley Manase Manyenga, has praised former Dynamos player Walter Musanhu for his outstanding work in promoting soccer development and social responsibility.
Musanhu’s Jadel Academy recently hosted an event aimed at creating awareness on drug abuse, which was officiated by Cllr Manyenga on behalf of Mayor Cllr Jacob Mafume.
In his remarks, Cllr Manyenga commended Musanhu’s efforts, saying: “It’s beautiful and encouraging to see Walter, a former footballer, establishing an academy that not only develops the game but also tackles pressing issues like drug abuse.”
He further emphasized the critical role of sports in addressing social challenges, noting: “Sport plays a big part in curbing drugs from the youth of today, while also focusing on the development of talent and well-being at a young age.”
Interestingly, Cllr Manyenga and Musanhu share a common connection, having both been part of a Dynamos junior project, although they never played as teammates. Cllr Manyenga acknowledged this connection, noting that Musanhu has taken the lessons learned from his football days to make a positive impact on society.
Cllr Manyenga’s endorsement of Musanhu’s initiative highlights the City of Harare’s commitment to supporting innovative programmes that promote social responsibility and youth development. By recognizing Musanhu’s achievements, Cllr Manyenga reinforces the importance of using sports as a tool for driving positive change.
Jadel Academy has established itself as a beacon of excellence in soccer development, producing talented young players locally and internationally, with a notable presence in China.
