In a bid to propel Harare City FC into the Premier Soccer League next season, the team’s executive, led by Mr. Simon Muzviyo, last week unveiled two new kits for the senior men’s team. The kits were generously donated by Harare companies Best Paints and Avonlea Car Wash. Tim Signs also donated banners.

At the unveiling ceremony, the Mayor of Harare, who serves as the patron for Harare City FC, emphasized the city’s renewed commitment to sports development. This commitment is enshrined in the local authority’s role in providing social services.

As part of this effort, the city has initiated a comprehensive revamp of sporting facilities. Notable partnerships include an agreement with Scottland FC to develop the Mabvuku Sports Ground. Additionally, plans are underway for the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) to construct a state-of-the-art soccer facility in Budiriro.

The mayor expressed enthusiasm for these partnerships, which aim to enhance the quality of life for Harare residents. He cited the electric atmosphere at Rufaro Stadium last Sunday during a match between Dynamos and Scottland as a testament to the city’s vibrant sporting culture.

Speaking at the same event, Councillor Stanley Manyenga, Chairman of the Harare City Sports Standing Committee, pledged to create a sports culture that contributes significantly to the city’s GDP. “Together with my committee, we are committed to fostering a thriving sports ecosystem that benefits our community and boosts our local economy,” he said.

Muzviyo, Chairman of Harare City FC, extended his gratitude to the sponsors, saying, “We are thankful for this generous gesture, which will undoubtedly motivate our team to strive for excellence.”

The mayor also challenged the team to work tirelessly to achieve their goal of qualifying for the Premier Soccer League. The city is confident that with dedication and perseverance, Harare City FC will make the city proud and bring joy to its residents.

These developments demonstrate Harare City Council’s dedication to promoting sports development and providing opportunities for residents to engage in physical activity and community building.
