Zimbabwe Economic Movement (ZEM) to contest in 2028 elections

The Zimbabwe Economic Movement (ZEM) led by Divine WaMwari Mafa has declared it’s intension to participate in 2028 national elections.
In a statement, Mafa who is based in USA said his party was busy hitting the ground, recruiting leaders in the country’s rural areas and is confident to dislodge Zanu PF from power.

“My fellow Zimbabweans, warriors of democracy, sons and daughters of our great nation—hear me today!

I, Devine WaMwari Mafa, President of the Zimbabwe Economic Movement (ZEM) Party, stand before you to declare my candidacy for the presidency of Zimbabwe in the 2028 election. Yes, I said 2028—because we will have elections, as our Constitution demands, and I am here to lead us into a future of justice, prosperity, and true democratic power for the people,”said Mafa.
He added:
” A misguided ZANU-PF blogger dared to claim there’ll be no election in 2028, and accused me of being out of touch for not bowing to this nonsense. “They speak of a “2030”—a dangerous plot to cancel or delay our sacred elections. Let me be crystal clear: there will be no 2030, not now, not ever! We, the people of Zimbabwe, will never allow our democracy to be stolen—not over my dead body.”

“Elections are the heartbeat of our democracy, the biggest win we’ve ever had. Even if they’re flawed, as we saw in 2023, we can fix them—we can work on the process, make it fairer, make it freer. But to let ZANU-PF take elections away entirely? That’s not democracy; that’s madness, and I won’t stand for it! Our Constitution, backed by 94% of you in 2013, guarantees elections every five years and sets term limits. ED’s time ends in 2028—Section 95 leaves no room for debate. Any attempt to extend his rule, to cheat Zimbabweans out of their vote, is a betrayal of our struggle. I’m not here to play games—this is not a joke! We’re not playing around.”

Mafa said ZEM was committed to end corruption and put in place development once elected into power.

“The blogger calls me out of touch because I uphold our Constitution over ZANU-PF’s empty promises of fertilizers and seeds. Out of touch? I’m the one fighting for you! With $5.5 billion in Bitcoin, ZEM is building a war chest to end corruption, fund real development, and empower every farmer, worker, and youth—not through ZANU-PF’s failed handouts, but through direct action.

” I’m on the ground, recruiting leaders like Justice Chinyadza in Rusape, ensuring rural voices lead the charge. ZANU-PF fears a strong opposition because it threatens their grip—they admit it! A weak opposition lets them dream of life presidencies and unconstitutional tricks. But ZEM is here to shatter that dream and demand our democratic rights.”
Mafa said, ZEM will not stand aside and let Zanu PF delay elections or postpone elections in 2028.

“If ZANU-PF tries to use floods, famines, or any excuse to delay 2028, we’ll vote through it all. We’ve fought too hard for this right—our ancestors bled for it. I won’t stand here and let ZANU-PF cheat us out of our future. Zimbabwe means we’re entitled to our vote, and I’ll defend that to my last breath.
” I am a man of the people, a man of action, and I say: elections will happen in 2028, and ZEM will lead us to victory!

Together, we’ll build a Zimbabwe where every voice counts, where every vote matters, and where our future belongs to us—not to a party clinging to power.
