In an escalation of accusations, Masvingo clergyman, Prophet Lovemore Chevure, leader of Prophetic Grace International Church has labelled, popular prophet, Emmanuel Makandiwa as a man who got his spiritual powers from the ‘dark world’ in Ghana.

This follows the challenge from prophet Makandiwa that he is prepared to ‘test’ other prophets, pastors or traditional leaders’ powers by handing over $1 million to whoever manage to prophesy the content of his trousers pocket, at his church service this Sunday.

“How can someone anonotora ma powers ku Ghana wants to test other prophets? Prophetic power doesn’t come from Boateng…We all know most people from Ghana get powers from dark world..Makandiwa I don’t think you’re true prophet of God..Who are you to test other prophets? Who is gonna also test you?,” said Prophet Chevure.
He went on to support his argument quoting the scriptures:
“Just take note- 2 Timothy 2:24-26 says a servant of the Lord must not quarrel, but be gentle, patient, and courteous. They should correct opponents with gentleness, hoping to bring them to repentance and knowledge of the truth.
If a prophet opposes another, they should evaluate the message against Scripture. If the opposing message is false, the prophet should correct it gently, as seen in 2 Timothy 2:24-26, and pray for the opponent’s repentance.

When a prophet says a prophecy, it’s considered a message from God, as seen in 2 Peter 1:21. However, asking to reveal contents of a pocket isn’t a biblical prophecy, but rather a party trick or magic show.

God doesn’t condone magic shows that deceive or mislead. In Leviticus 18:10 and 20:6, God warns against occult practices and divination. Entertainment is okay, but not when it’s used to manipulate or claim supernatural power.

Prophecy’s purpose is to reveal God’s truth, warning of judgment and calling for repentance. It’s not for personal gain, but to guide and correct, bringing people to God, as seen in 1 Corinthians 14:3 and Ezekiel 3:17-21.

Jeremiah 1:11-12, “The Lord said to me, ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?’ I replied, ‘I see a branch of an almond tree.’ The Lord said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.'”
Prophet Chevure said the Church is a place of worship and for competition.

“Church is a place of worship and not for competition… Christianity is the body of Christ and we must complement each other and there is no comparison in Christianity.”
Prophet Chevure added:
“Makandiwa don’t throw stones iwe uchigara muimba yemagirazi. He who shoots arrows into the air must have a metal helmet. This will end in tears. You might be famous but kune vanhu vanoshandiswa naMwari out there vasingazikanwi. In the days of Elijah aifunga kuti he is the only man of God left but there were more 400 others.”
Prophet Makandiwa has shaken Zimbabwe’s religious landscape with an audicious challenge. He pledged $1 million to any prophet, pastor, or a traditional healer who can accurately reveal what is in his pocket when he makes a preaching address at his church this Sunday.
