The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said 2936 traffic accidents occurred since 15 December 2024 while 155 people lost their lives.
In a statement, ZRP spokesman, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said though the number of traffic accidents recorded were lower in comparison with the same time in 2023/2024 period, there was an increase in road accidents fatalities.
“The statistics show that the total number of accidents decreased from 3607 in 2023-2024 to 2936 in 2024-2025, while the number of fatal road traffic accidents increased from 118 in 2023-2024 to 133 in 2024-2025.Meanwhile the number of people killed decreased from 162 in 2023-2024 to 155 in 2024-2025, while the number of people injured increased from 821 to 938,”said Commissioner Nyathi.
