Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service Commissioner-General Dr Moses CN Chihobvu has urged officers to invest in income-generating projects while still in active service to ensure financial stability in retirement.
Speaking during a tour of his Good Hope Valley Farm in Headlands, Dr Chihobvu told 54 officers attending Management and Leadership Development Course in Corrections that retirement should mark the beginning of new opportunities rather than the end of productivity.
The officers toured projects at the farm, including dairy farming, horticulture, poultry production, aquaculture and greenhouse farming. They said the visit provided practical lessons on entrepreneurship and self-sustenance.
Principal of Staff College Assistant Commissioner Davison Garauzive commended the projects at the farm and encouraged officers to implement similar initiatives at their stations and homes. He urged them to start small and grow their projects through commitment and consistency.
Dr Chihobvu also stressed the importance of the Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Society approach in strengthening the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service and promoting national development. He said sustainable progress depends on institutions and communities working together towards shared national goals.
