The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) Chief Executive Officer Rose Mpofu has implored consumers to use registered  public transport to and from their various destinations as it is more reliable.
In her words to consumers ahead of the Heroes and Defence Forces holiday, Mpofu called on consumers to desist from impulsive buying.

“As we commemorate Heroes and Defence forces holidays, families usually partake in various family gatherings with tombstones unveiling being common event, resulting in travelling to various destinations, thus consumers are urged to use reliable registered public transport, desist from using unregistered pirate taxes that do not offer reliable safety and quality services, especially in cases of consumer dispute, seeking redress, in most cases, is a big challenge,” she said.

“Public transporters who still use and display tickets with disclaimer clauses such as (Goods left at owners risk, no returns, no refunds) among others, are advised to stop using such as they have been outlawed by the Consumer Protection Act Chapter 14:44 Section 42”.

Mpofu urged consumers to purchase goods from registered shops and desist from impulse buying.

“Due to the proliferation of counterfeit products on sale in market, consumers are advised to buy from reputable, registered retail shops, avoid impulse purchases, enticed by low prices.
“Secure your homes when travelling and ensure adequate security each time you leave home,” she said.
