A Revolutionary VR Experience of African Heritage and Imagination initiative has been launched in Zimbabwe.
Dzimbanhete Arts and Culture Interactions (DACI), a pioneering force in cultural preservation and artistic innovation, officially launched the All Afrika Virtual Culture Village project on May 6, 2025 marking the first manifestation of a bold and visionary journey into immersive storytelling.

With quiet resolve and profound purpose, Dzimbanhete has stepped beyond the boundaries of traditional art and heritage presentation into a new frontier: Dzimbanhete-XR, a virtual realm where ancestral memory meets future-forward expression.

For nearly two decades, DACI has rooted itself deeply in the soil of heritage, community engagement, education, and creative evolution. The All Afrika Virtual Culture Village honors this legacy while simultaneously transforming it, offering a medium through which African culture can be experienced in dynamic and multidimensional ways.
“We believe this new platform and medium of expression will change the way people view cultural knowledge, architecture and material culture. What has been envisioned in our physical space is now taking form in Virtual Reality, in dimensions that are forever evolving: that Afrika without boarders, will now be walking with you wherever you are,”said an explainer in a video.

At the heart of the launch is a foundational structure titled Imba yaAmai, meaning “Mother’s Domain.” This virtual monument is both physical and symbolic the spiritual nucleus of the Zezuru/Shona worldview, representing community, ancestral knowledge, and sacred space. But Imba yaAmai is no ordinary building. It pulses with presence. It invites reflection, interaction, and reverence. It is a call to reconnect, hence having it as the starting point.
An explainer video providing a guided experience through this immersive prototype is now available via all Dzimbanhete social media platforms, including: Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, LinkedIn, Blog
This launch marks only the beginning. Imba yaAmai is the first manifestation of what will grow into a fully realized All Afrika Virtual Culture Village, an ongoing project aimed at representing the 54 nations on the continent, regenerating Afrikan knowledge systems, reimagining indigenous architecture, and reinvigorating cultural memory through virtual and extended reality technologies.
Stay connected. Stay curious. The Village is expanding — and the journey has just begun.
