Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has doubled its annual donation to the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe (CAZ) to US$50,000 to support chemotherapy treatment for cancer patients across the country.

The donation marks more than a decade of the bank’s partnership with CAZ, which has helped patients and their families access essential cancer treatment and support services.
Stanbic Bank Head of Brand and Marketing, Tariro Memo, said the bank considered it a privilege to continue supporting cancer patients through a partnership built on compassion and a shared commitment to improving lives.
Memo said the bank’s support had taken different forms over the years, but its primary objective remained reducing the burden of cancer and improving access to care for those who needed it most.

“Today, Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe is therefore pleased to continue this journey through our contribution of US$50,000 towards chemotherapy drugs, which is double what we donated last year,” she said.

She said the contribution should not be measured solely in monetary terms, medicines or equipment, but also by its life-changing impact on patients and their families.
Memo added that the bank remained committed to supporting communities through carefully designed Corporate Social Investment initiatives aimed at delivering sustainable and measurable results.

“Our purpose is simple: Zimbabwe is our home, and we drive her growth. Health and sanitation are among the important areas of our community investment, and supporting cancer care remains part of that commitment,” she said.
Memo commended CAZ for its work since its establishment in 1961, particularly in cancer awareness, counselling, advocacy, and patient and family support.

She also highlighted the importance of extending cancer awareness and services beyond major urban centres, particularly to rural communities where awareness, early detection and access to services remain challenging.
“When we look back over these years, we see more than donations. We see a strong sustainable partnership. We want this partnership to continue delivering meaningful impact. We want to continue working with the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe in the fight against cancer,” she said.

CAZ General Manager Junior Mavu expressed gratitude to Stanbic Bank for what he described as a generous donation towards the treatment of patients in need.
Mavu said the contribution aligned with the association’s mission of promoting cancer prevention and improving the quality of life of patients, their families and communities through timely interventions and universal access to cancer information and management services.

He commended the bank for standing by cancer patients, noting that its support had helped provide essential treatment to people who might otherwise struggle to afford chemotherapy.
“We are especially grateful that your contribution has doubled from US$25,000 in 2025 to US$50,000 this year. This is a meaningful response to the growing cancer burden and the rising number of patients who need our help,” Mavu said.

The continued partnership between Stanbic Bank and CAZ seeks to strengthen access to cancer treatment while supporting broader efforts to improve awareness, early detection and patient care across Zimbabwe.
