Masvingo/Harare — Six members of the Mujuru family from Tynwald North, Harare, died in a head-on collision along the Harare–Masvingo Road on Thursday morning, police confirmed in a press statement dated 3 April 2026.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said the crash occurred at about 09:50 on 2 April at the 246-km peg, when a Toyota Corolla and a Mercedes-Benz truck collided.
Victims identified by next of kin were Lilian Maranda Mujuru (40) and five children: Nokutenda (15), Makanaka (13), Ronald Junior (11), Rufaro Shalom (7) and Kayden (3). All lived at the same Tynwald North address.
In the statement, police extended condolences to the family and appealed to drivers to observe road safety over the Easter and Independence holidays. The stretch near the 246-km peg is a known up-country corridor that sees heavy traffic during holiday travel.
