Harare – Alice Mutambara, Founder and National Chairperson of Zimbabwe Widows for Economic Development , has expressed her organization’s sadness at the passing of former MP Cde Farai Musikavanhu, who represented Chiredzi Central and was a ZANU PF central committee member. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Musikavanhu. He was a good man who touched many lives. We will miss him dearly,” Mutambara said.

Musikavanhu passed away on January 14, 2026, at a hospital in Harare due to suspected complications from throat surgery he underwent late last year.

Zimbabwe Widows for Economic Development , which has established branches in all ten provinces, is focused on empowering widows across the country. The organization is set to receive empowerment funds from Specially Presidential Advisor Dr. Paul Tungwarara, which will be used to support widows in various projects.

“We are working towards empowering all widows nationally, regardless of their background or affiliation. Our goal is to ensure that they have access to resources and opportunities that will improve their lives,” Mutambara said.

The organization is expected to be officially launched in Manicaland, and Mutambara is urging all stakeholders to support their efforts. “We believe that with the support of the government and well-meaning individuals, we can make a significant difference in the lives of widows. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our mandate is fulfilled,” she added.

The organization has already started mobilizing widows across the country, with a strong presence in all provinces. With the support of Dr. Tungwarara and other stakeholders, Zimbabwe Widows for Economic Development 4ED is poised to make a positive impact on the lives of widows in Zimbabwe.
