The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has said the country’s largest inland dam, Tugwi Mukosi is now at 100 percent capacity.
ZINWA warned villagers downstream to exercise caution.

“Tugwi–Mukosi Dam has reached 100% capacity and is safely spilling as of 3 January 2026, following sustained inflows from ongoing rainfall.
“Communities downstream are advised to exercise caution, avoid flooded river crossings, and remove water abstraction equipment from river channels.
Further updates will be issued as monitoring continues.”
