Future Mangawa, a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is making a profound impact in Zimbabwean communities through her tireless service. As Mangawa is First Counselor in the Relief Society, she’s involved in various charitable initiatives, focusing on the sick, elderly, and disadvantaged.
Her work is done in collaboration with notable organizations and individuals, including Eyes for Zimbabwe, where Reeve A. Nield serves as Director of Operations, Lauretta Maritz, Director of Medical Supplies, and Cecilia Lundgreen, based in Norway.
Mangawa’s community work includes visiting the sick and elderly, providing emotional and practical support, and empowering disadvantaged girls through education. Her recent initiative involved purchasing school books for girls in her community, demonstrating her commitment to education and empowerment.
However, Mangawa’s dedication is not without challenges. Her mobility is a major hurdle, limiting her ability to reach more areas. Mangawa who is a single mother also struggles with securing funds to meet patients’ needs, often relying on her own resources to support her family of four.
“I wish I had a centre where I could house some cases that need my direct support,” Mangawa said.
She’s also eager to enhance her skills in addressing disability conditions, recognizing the need for specialized knowledge to provide efficient support.
Mangawa’s story highlights the importance of empowering community workers and the impact they can have with the right resources. Her work demonstrates the power of collective efforts in making a difference.
