Glen View South MP, Honorable Tsitsi Tawomhera, recently visited Isheanesu Multipurpose Skills Training Centre for children with disabilities on 12 November 2025, accompanied by Canel Njiva, a member of the Central Committee on Disability desk, Mr. Anditem Chikunga, and Peter Chimhugwe of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), who was accompanied by another officer to provide security.

This visit was a follow-up to a previous fact-finding mission, demonstrating the government’s commitment to supporting disability inclusion and child safeguarding initiatives.

The centre provides care and rehabilitation services to children with various disabilities, including cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, and Down syndrome. The MP’s visit highlights her commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit people with disabilities in her constituency. Isheanesu Multipurpose Centre is a non-profit organization that relies on donations and support from well-wishers to continue providing essential services to its beneficiaries.

The centre’s programs include skills development, music, and visual performing arts, aiming to empower children with disabilities and promote their inclusion in society.

The meeting commenced at 11:26 am with a prayer led by Mrs. Florence Kabayadondo, Chairperson of the Isheanesu Founding Committee. This was followed by opening remarks from Mr. Langton Chidzvondo, the Isheanesu Board Chairperson, and self-introductions by the present Board members, setting a collaborative tone for the visit.

The Board Chair briefly outlined Isheanesu’s two programs and challenges. Honorable Tawomhera hailed the work Isheanesu is doing, quoting His Excellence the President of Zimbabwe’s mantra of “leaving no one behind.” The enrolment at Isheanesu stands at thirty-six, with two hundred and forty-eight on the CBR programme. The Honorable MP read the report from parliament which Isheanesu had submitted.

Challenges Faced by Isheanesu:

1. Accommodation
2. Electricity
3. Borehole
4. Water crisis
5. Computers for students
6. No sources of funds – Proposed 500 brailors as board and irrigation
7. Security – Need fencing for the centre
8. Resident Therapist

Honorable Tawomhera promised that there can be a delay, but electricity and water are a priority. She also said they would pursue Pastor Tungwarara on irrigation issues. On the poultry project, the Board has raised $100. The Honorable MP said she would like to talk to the First Lady to pay a visit to Isheanesu and see what she can assist with as a mother.

Mr. Trymore Karikoga highlighted challenges in CBR contributions, noting the government’s shift from charity model to empowerment for sustainability.

The Honorable Tawomhera donated $100 towards lunch for Board members, $40 worth of coupons for the centre’s vehicle, and $100 worth of detergents. She pledged to buy detergents monthly for schools in the constituency.

Every Board member present was given a chance to speak, and all praised the MP’s visit, calling it a great success. After a closing prayer, the delegation toured the premises, marking a positive end to the visit.
