The European Union Delegation to Zimbabwe has announced the launch of the call for applications for the 2026-2028 cohort of the Team Europe Youth Sounding Board (YSB).
Under a spirit of inclusivity, the Team Europe YSB aims to bring together young men and women volunteering from all provinces of Zimbabwe from both urban and rural areas, and include people with disabilities. Looking for youth with a passion for the socio-economic development of Zimbabwe, particularly the empowerment of youth.
The application period will be open for four full weeks and youth who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply.
The Team Europe YSB cohort will advise the EU Delegation and the EU Member States Embassies on their programmes and activities in Zimbabwe in order for them to be able to incorporate the voices of the young Zimbabweans of nowadays.
What is the Youth Sounding Board?
The Youth Sounding Board is an initiative that aims to give young people a greater say in the EU’s action in Zimbabwe. It is composed of 25 diverse, young people from Zimbabwe, who will serve on volunteering basis over the course of two years to discuss and advise the EU Delegation and EU Embassies on issues such as climate-smart agriculture, green economic growth, human development, good governance, human rights, gender equality and women empowerment.
The Board will also advise the EU on how to better engage with young people in Zimbabwe.
The EU is committed to youth participation and empowerment, and the YSB is a key part of this commitment. Over the years, the YSB’s work has contributed to tangible improvements in youth-focused projects and strategies, with its members actively having a say on the needs and priorities of young people in Zimbabwe and monitoring the impact of EU initiatives on Zimbabwean youth.
Membership is voluntary and based on a two-year mandate, requiring around 60 days of commitment per year through both online and field engagements. While the role is unremunerated, the EU covers all reasonable expenses to ensure members can fully participate in their responsibilities.
