Scottland FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya has boldly declared that his team is now firmly targeting the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title after opening a four-point lead at the top of the table.
Scottland edged Chicken Inn 1-0 on Friday afternoon, with Tymon Machope scoring the decisive goal in the 7th minute to secure back-to-back wins for the log leaders.
The result took Scottland to 56 points, four clear of second-placed Simba Bhora, who have played two games fewer.
Speaking after the match, Ndiraya admitted that while his side are not yet in full control of the title race, they are now openly gunning for the championship.
“We are ahead by four points, but of course, Simba Bhora have two games in hand,” said Ndiraya.
“We are at the top, so why shouldn’t we talk about the title? We are in the race now, and hopefully we keep collecting points so that we maintain that position.
“But I’ve always said that in the situation we are in, we are not yet in control of the title race. At the moment, we are fighting. We are in it, but we also hope that Simba Bhora will slip up and take advantage of that.”
Scottland will be hoping to maintain their winning momentum in their next fixture against long-time rivals MWOS as the title race intensifies in the closing stages of the season.
