The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) stands in full solidarity with the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Unions (FOZEU) following its recent meeting, where critical resolutions were adopted in the fight for labour justice and the right to education.

Teachers across Zimbabwe have been pushed to the brink by starvation wages, unsafe working conditions, and a collapsing education system. The government has continued to ignore our calls for a living wage of *USD $1,260*, adequate school resourcing, and respect for teachers’ labour rights.

As ARTUZ, we endorse and support the following FOZEU resolutions:

1. *Opening schools with a sit-in* — to highlight that teachers are present, but unable to effectively work without a living wage.
2. *Joining the FEUZ-called strike* — as part of a united front for better working conditions.
3. *Organising for an indefinite job action* — by mobilising through school visits and grassroots organising.
4. *Reconvening to announce the indefinite strike date* — ensuring all unions act in unison for maximum impact.
5. *Creating district groups* — to strengthen coordination, solidarity, and communication among teachers on the ground.

These resolutions are a clear signal: teachers are united, organised, and ready to take decisive action until our demands are met.

We remind the government that this crisis is not of the teachers’ making but is a direct result of its neglect and refusal to prioritise education. An attack on teachers is an attack on the future of our children and the nation.

ARTUZ therefore calls on all teachers to stand together under FOZEU’s banner. Only through collective action can we reclaim our dignity, protect the right to organise, and save the education sector from collapse.
