The Finance Sub-Committee of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has concluded a virtual meeting held from 15–16 July 2025, focused on reviewing core financial documents and assessing progress in the implementation of key regional programmes.

As a technical advisory body, the Finance Sub-Committee plays a key role in preparing documents for consideration by the Finance Committee and subsequent approval by the #SADC Council of Ministers.

Chaired by Mauritius, with Namibia as Deputy Chair, the Finance Sub-Committee comprises representatives from seven Member States: Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, and Namibia.

The purpose of the meeting was to align performance outcomes with SADC’s strategic priorities while reinforcing financial oversight and accountability across the region.

Key agenda items included:
▶️Review of the 2024/25 Annual Performance Report
▶️Consideration of the Adjustment Budget
Updates on the implementation of ongoing regional initiatives
▶️Preparation of a record with recommendations for consideration by the Finance Committee, ahead of submission to the Council in August 2025.

The meeting reaffirmed SADC’s commitment to sound financial stewardship, transparency, and coordinated regional action, which are key enablers in driving forward the organisation’s vision for deeper regional integration and sustainable development.

The meeting was convened and coordinated by the SADC Secretariat in Gaborone, Botswana, under the leadership of Executive Secretary H.E Elias M. Magosi, supported by Dr. Judith Kateera, Deputy Executive Secretary for Corporate Affairs, Dr. Edson Chikati, Acting Director of Finance, and members of the Secretariat Management Team.
