Dear fellow teachers and Ministry officials,

As I write this, my heart is heavy with concern and frustration. We stand at a critical juncture in our struggle for fair remuneration, and I implore you all to recognize the gravity of our situation.

Our beloved profession, once a noble calling, has been reduced to a mere survivalist endeavor. The economic hardships in Zimbabwe have taken a devastating toll on our livelihoods, and it’s imperative that we take collective action to demand better.

To my fellow teachers, I ask: How can we continue to inspire and educate the next generation when our own lives are marked by uncertainty and hardship? Our salaries have been eroded by inflation, and the cost of living has become unbearable. We’re forced to juggle multiple jobs just to make ends meet, compromising our ability to deliver quality education.

To the Ministry officials, I say: You’re entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring our welfare and the quality of education in our country. Yet, it seems that our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. We urge you to take a firmer stance with our employer, to advocate for our rights, and to push for meaningful change.

The time for gentle negotiations is over. We need bold action, collective bargaining, and a united front. If we don’t stand together, we’ll continue to suffer at the hands of an employer who seems unwilling to listen.

I urge you all to join hands with us in the Zimbabwe Teachers Remuneration Struggle. Let’s raise our voices, let’s march together, and let’s demand the salaries and working conditions we deserve. We owe it to ourselves, our families, and the future of our nation.

We can’t afford to wait any longer. The future of education in Zimbabwe depends on our collective action.

Sincerely,

Nyabadza Z [ZTRS]
