A Nkayi secondary school teacher, Kudakwashe Kufakunesu, known by stage name KK is set to release his second album titled, Shungu Dzemurozvi early next year.

“The album, Shungu Dzemurozvi, has eight tracks and l promise my fans that it is going to be a hit,”Kufakunesu said.

“Other songs on the album that fans should look forward to include Chidembo, Mari, Delilah and Christmas. We are busy in the studio working on the other tracks.”

The Sungura musician, who teaches history, economic history and geography at Hlangabeza High School released his first album, Mwandabvu WeMoyo in 2023. The hit song, Musha Mukadzi on that album last year topped the Zimbabwe Online Radios and Ridza Tinzwe FM online charts.

“Last year Musha Mukadzi won a certificate in Ridza Tinzwe FM online radio competitions and was number one for three consecutive weeks. At the end of year 2024 of the same competitions (Tinzwe FM top 50) we clinched third position. I promise my music followers that we will surpass that fit with this latest album we are working on,”he said.

He also said last year, on other top 50 online radio platforms such as Zimbabwe Online Radios and Hotline Radio station the group the group came out on number three and four respectively.

Kufakunesu said he was not only carving his name in the music industry but has helped students at his school form a music band, which has since recorded a single titled, Ukusebenza Akubulali.

He said the school music group has previously represented Matebeleland North on many occasions including at the National Anuual Science, Sports and Arts Festival held in Gweru and Chinhoyi in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

Born 47 years ago in Masvingo, Kufakunesu said he formed a music band, Extra Logic Band in 2021 and during the same year recorded his first single titled, Imba Yako in which he played rhythm and vocals.

The Sungura artist said he occasionally stage live shows and felt encouraged by his fans that attend his performances.

The rhythm player paid tribute to his producer BMC of Playon Studios as well as bass guitarist Willo Moyo for their contribution in taking the Sungura genre to greater heights.
