In a bid to capacitate the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in its fight against specialized crime, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has intensified training and modern technical skills.
This comes in the wake of increase in armed robbery, motor vehicle theft, murder and other criminal acts in the country.
At a ceremony held at Shamva Battle Camp last week where 63 CID crack team detectives completed a 45 days intermediate investigate course, the Commissioner General of Police Stephen Mutamba vowed to improve the protocols, tactical preparedness and overall capability of ZRP specialized units which are tasked with performing high risk duties such as tracking armed robbery syndicates.
Commissioner General Mutamba also emphasized that ZRP has embraced technology use in attending and responding to crime scenes and investigations.
The CID crack team underwent courses in tracking, conduct responses and investigation of high profile cases which include armed robberies, murder, theft of motor vehicles, cyber crime, among other cases .
