Even in death, Pope Francis, who stoked managed scandals from the day of his pontification, again dragged the controversial US cardinal, Roger Mahony, a retired archbishop of Los Angeles, tainted with papal sex scandals, to his burial day.

Mahony, one of the nine cardinals to lead the rites, will close Pope Francis’ casket for burial at the Basilica Santa Maria Magiore, ensuring an enduring taint on the papacy, in a manner so poetically married to Zifa president Nqobile Magwizi’s modus operandi in recent weeks.

His much maligned, if criticised technical trip to the UK, to build a national team, from the diaspora football backwaters, has pegged back all the goodwill his election on January 25, brought.

Magwizi, is busy dressing up the visitors lounge, complete with all imagined optics, yet the football house crying for structures, is left unattended at home.

The essence of the FA, the 78 strong assembly is not legally constituted. Abandoned and forgotten after the ballot.

It is the same assembly from whom Magwizi and his 11 member Exco (two are still outstanding) take their constitutional legitimacy and power of attorney.

Yet, that is left to the ridicule of public scrutiny.

If Zifa has an Exco, who are the members of the assembly that elected them?

This is not a FIFA thing, baby or bowl. It is an FA’s only reason for existence.

The Zifa exist for the purpose of developing football, putting structures to enable the animal to go agricultural.

But Magwizi in his open disrespect for the statutes, has abandoned that to the whims and caprices of the selfish bandwagon, created by this gaping assembly vacuum.

Nature’s practice is such that every vacuum is filled…by something.

Traveling to the UK to meet with the paid up guests is not going to right the wrongs of this game.

Meeting up with parents of players, already targeted for the interests of the cartels, will not create structures for the FA to operate as constitutionally demanded.

With no FA and assembly to lend legitimacy to everything, this hollow if expensive exercise will only achieve one thing.

That the January 25 election was an absolute scam that didn’t do anything, other than showing up our football on the auction table to the highest bidder.

The Page revealed in February that Warriors coach, Michael Nees will travel to the UK to meet the targeted 13 players, who at best are potential third rates with better brand potential than those playing at Green Fuel, for example.

The timing of the exercise was wrong but deliberate as no serious player or club in Europe at this time, will give a minute attention to the choreographed circus.

A grouping of Zimbos in London and Birmingham, as guests, was always going to give an impression of something happening, yet in essence, it is simply papering up the cracks.

We know and knew the boys Nees would be calling in May, for the June international audition.

The trip was simply a pent up laboratory set up.

But Zimbabwe ambassador to London, Col Christian Katsande, a very thorough, convincing professional, did not miss the forest for the trees.

He told Magwizi, with Marshall Gore, that man who loves publicity and click of camera like kids to candy: “Football is due a very good sustainable foundation.

“One that offers our nation a good future with clear structures, infrastructure, goodwill, stakeholder involvement and brand equity.

“Doing so requires a proper technical plan, strategy and implementation that respect attention to every detail that mitigated against progress in the past.

” I urge Zifa, it is good that the president has taken it upon himself to lead this, to do this right and everything will fall into play.

“Football is a people’s game. Everyone has an inherent stake and their opinion matters, much as we want it to be a business.

” And crucially, the business of business, is business. Do it right and the results will be good”.

Was ambassador Katsande prophetic? Or was speaking like a man who fully understands football? Or both?

Is he aware that the technical and development committee chaired by Tafadzwa Benza is yet to present the white paper in respect of how matters technical should be handled by the FA?

Was Col Katsande aware that even Gore, the supposed ad hoc committee chair on diaspora, claims to have had no knowledge of this project?

Or that the Diaspora committee had been trading serious barbs in their WhatsApp group over the matter?

The Page is in possession of the war zone stuff trending in that group over this UK engagement project.

In short, there is no shortage of bombs in that group. Kkkkkkk…

And it is a combo, Walter Musanhu, Morden Ngwenya, Willard Katsande, what a group!

If a mere small unnecessary matter like looking for national team players, could expose the sewerage, in the body politic of Zifa, hardly 100 days into hollow existence, what will become of this Exco?

Will it survive to tell another Savanna story of anthills and acacia?

Or we will soon have a Phil Chiyangwa period, when only three Exco members – Omega Sibanda, Phelimon Machana remained, to run Zifa aground in 2017-8?

Or another Failton Kamambo era, when then vice president Gift Banda was technically suspended 29 days into office, followed by Chamu Chiwanza 47 days later?

Already the terrible trio of Ken Ndebele, Thomas Marambanyika and Alice Zeure are pushing for the ouster of Brighton “PanJap” Ushendibaba and Tafadzwa Benza, yet the same PanJap paid for that other useless benchmarking trip to SAFA early this month.

Before that he had kitted the Warriors in the Durban match against Benin, via a benevolence he sourced from Hon Scott Sakupwanya.

When you do not know where you are going, every road will lead you there.
