When Nqobile Magwizi won the Zifa election on January 25, he said that he is going to be a servant leader of the game, offering leadership, vision, strategy, planning and development focus, and his manifesto said as much and more.
A sprinkling of his Exco members also attempted to bed in with Magwizi by accepting the oath to serve the game in the interest of the constituents, but 82 days into office, all the scripts have been binned….and even sinned against, The Page has observed.
What the world has seen is the Exco that have taken turns to go on projects, which their jobs do not allow them to do as frequently as this, leaving their constitutional mandates unattended, and is some instances, other Exco members targeting the members of assembly for removal.
One wonders why? what changed in 82 days?
Yet, our game is not going anywhere. Not even backwards. It is stuck in the selfish intends of the Exco faculties, who have already grown horns strong enough to gore buffalo bulls off the park.
But for how long will the Zifa assembly watch this choreographed madness, disguised as activity.
A grouping of three Exco members, have advised Zifa president Magwizi to first entrench more power, control and authority over the football ecosystem, before he can worry about the members of assembly, whose status, as it stands is questionable and without constitutional vivendi.
In short the Zifa assembly has no modus vivendi and that has allowed the Exco to gallivant across the expanse of the world, under the guise of organising football.
But are they onside in what they are doing? Some Exco members have no idea of what they are doing.
Let us picture this. The Zifa elections were held under a cloud of allegations of serious corruption and voting buying.
The Fifa were there and validated the results. The members of assembly, who were accused of accepting bribes had their status left unattended with no legal legitimacy and ratification.
Those who bribed their way into the Exco, took all the powers and are determining the direction of the show as they please, while those that received the bribes are parked in a corner, while others were bunched and packed into standing and ad hoc committees, to silence them further.
Some of those who lost the election and are known to cause untold nuisance were rewarded with undeserved appointments into committees, while some of the members of assembly not trusted and respected were compromised into silence without public acclamation, leaving them powerless and only being invited to EGMs and AGMs, to rubber stamp what the Exco want to do.
And in all this, the constitution has been ignored or conveniently revisited, when matters calls for the book.
Since election, in January, all members of the Exco have been on trips, others multiple, while the members of assembly watched.
The elections for the PSL and Women’s League have been conveniently shelved, yet the two leaders from those constituencies fully populate the Exco.
As it stands the Exco is operating short of the two members, yet football is allowed to go ahead as if all is well.
Where is Magwizi and the nine member committee rushing to with regard to the legalities of the constitutional provisions?
Does it explain why Kenny Ndebele has run the referees committee, making appointments and vetoing suggestions of others in the Exco?
The Page can reveal that five members of the Exco have complained that Ndebele is bullying them, often vetoing their suggestions and the president has stood with Ndebele.
Why? Not only that; Alice Zeure and Thomas Marambanyika have advised that the entire assembly require going through election, before they can sit in the assembly.
Again, Magwizi is accepting that. That is despite the fact that some members of assembly have raised that issue that the trio, whose election into the Exco lend their existence from the compromise the assembly made, should respect the assembly and their voice.
Does it explain why Magwizi is leading the charge towards doing everything as permanent workers of the FA?
So they actually acknowledge that the secretariat is lean, weak and or useless, yet can not change those not stitched up the right way for the job?
Does it explain why we are seeing Magwizi traveling on April 20 to England to meet the players and parents of boys (not girls) born in the diaspora, and not a general manager of national teams, who is the man charged with doing such jobs?
Deliberately, they do not want to re-appoint Welly Mpandare to the position, whose departure was Guptas driven to allow the cartels to trench in as they are now.
So, if the Exco, who are not members of Zifa, do not want the assembly to be clothed with power and authority to exercise, how do they take themselves for?
Gods? Football government without parliament? Is this recipe good enough for a community meal?
Will this get us the football structures, governance, technical and development policy, HR realities(football is not like any other job),commercialisation and compliance (Ndebele just returned from a Rio Summit in Brazil)?
Well, all this that Magwizi and his Exco are doing now is not new.
Failton Kamambo and his 2018 Exco did that, taking the entire Exco and Sweeney Mushonga and Andrew Tapela to SAFA House at the beginning of the term.
They met the same Danny Jordaan. We know what happened later, because, then like now, it excluded the members of the assembly and happened without clear mandate and vision.
It was all excitement, lacking in content and strategy.
Then as now, there were issues of a weak secretariat, weak structures, complaints about referees committee, national teams developments and plans, disrespect for members of assembly, poor leadership at women’s league, poor PSL and no business structure. Fun, you hear people talk of running Zifa as a business, when there are zero structures at the FA for such.
This Exco can run and fly all they want, even birds perch at some point everyday, but football harinyepi zvaro.
Tinozongoriona ra3pm mumaground umu nemaref edu embiri kkkkk…..
As long as the foundation is as shacky as this one, already, where the Exco is divided and lacking in respect for the assembly, there is enough toxicity in the plate to kill the game.
A complete detour is required now.
The Exco should immediately banish the mentality that they are more important than the assembly.
Kamambo made the same mistake and his good history for student of football politics. The Exco are not as important as they carry themselves.Magwizi must stop playing roulette with the assembly.
A decision must be made now and here that if they want all of them out, as suggested by Ndebele, Marambanyika and Zeure, he must make the call.
He must stop hiding behind FIFA and the new electoral committee, whose job is not to determine where elections are required but just to organise and conduct them.
That is what the constitution say.
If he wants elections, that too, must be called now. Zifa can not continue like a normalization committee for any day longer.
It is not only unconstitutional but make everything that the Exco is doing, an exercise in futility.
Can our football afford that? We can not clap hands for a drunken driver on the wheels during this Easter and Independence Holidays?
It is dangerous for our game.
Do the right things.
Resolve the status of the assembly and allow them the power to deal with the errant members of the Exco and save the game the disrepute.
It is already too unhealth for the game….and worse the public is watching as the Guptas are edging forever closer to the seat of influence.
They are already in the driving seat with the national team selection opprobrium, paying for the exercise and determining the outcome.
We are watching you….and the final list that Michael Nees is going to come up with is being closely scrutinised to see the targeted and those presumed to be Nees’ effort of the adventure.
We will publish the scandal….because it is already.
Has anyone seen the Zifa advisory for those in England over the pending president visit….and the cut of date of birth for the targets…
It has nothing to do with The Page?
You can not convince some people that honey is sweeter than sugarcane.
