The embassy of the State of Palestine in Zimbabwe said it is outraged and devastated by the brutal murder of two Palestinian journalists, Helmi Al-Faqaawi and Yousef al-Khazinda, while another journalist Ahmed Mansour was burnt alive by an Israeli missile that targeted a journalists’ tent at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza. The Embassy said the heinous attack is the latest in a series of assaults targeting journalists covering the genocide in the blockaded enclave, bringing the death toll of journalists killed by Israel to over 210.
Palestine Ambassador to Zimbabwe Tamer Almassri vehemently condemned the deliberate and systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli military. He said it is a blatant attempt to enforce a complete media blackout, preventing the world from witnessing the scale and brutality of Israel’s genocidal crimes against the Palestinian people. He said the deafening silence and inaction of the international community in the face of the repeated atrocities have emboldened Israel to continue its ruthless campaign with impunity.
Ambassador Tamer Almassri reiterated that the Israeli occupation has continued to perpetrate its brutality in Gaza with impunity due to the lack of deterrent measures and the inaction of the international community. The Ambassador said the State of Palestine has made desperate calls for help, but the world has remained silent on the Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.
He said international laws and agreements designed to protect human rights have become meaningless in the face of ongoing crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. He added that the right to life, education, health, and other fundamental rights have been stripped away from Palestinians, who are subjected to Israeli brutal killing machines, use of banned chemical weapons and unimaginable suffering.
The Ambassador said the world cannot continue to turn a blind eye to Israel’s criminal machine. He also urged all nations to stand up for justice, human rights and international law and to take immediate action to stop Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Ambassador Almassri emphasized that Palestinians will remain steadfast in their legitimate struggle for self-determination and will continue to resist occupation and displacement. He said they will never raise the white flag in the face of Israel’s apartheid and genocidal policies.
