The Passengers Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) has implored drivers to be cautious and take measures to prevent road carnages ahead of the Easter holidays.
This was revealed by PAZ.

“PAZ is deeply saddened to learn that two more lives have been lost due to injuries sustained in the tragic DZ Turn Off accident.

“As we head towards the upcoming public holidays in April, we fear that the road carnage will continue to claim lives. It’s high time for the nation to come together to promote safe road behaviors and put an end to these senseless tragedies.

“We urge public transport operators to educate their employees on safe driving practices and condemn corruption in law enforcement on our roads, which only exacerbates the problem.”

A comprehensive analysis by the police has revealed that most accidents recorded during the Easter Holiday in 2024 were attributed to speeding, inattention, misjudgement, overtaking error, and failure to observe road rules and regulations by drivers.
A total of 27 people died as compared to 29 who perished in 2023 during the Easter holidays.
One hundred and fifty-nine people sustained injuries as compared to 145 in 2023.
