The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has warned communities on the downstream of rivers and dams across the country to be always alert due to incessant rains.
Said ZINWA in a statement:
“Dams and rivers are recording very high and significant inflows due to the incessant rains in different parts of the country. Communities along rivers and those downstream of dams are advised to be always on very high alert during this rainy season.
Let is save lives and property.”
“Inflows into Tugwi-Mukosi remain significantly high with Tugwi River delivering most of the water. The dam is currently spilling at a rate of approximately 100 cubic meters per second (100 000 litres) per second, increasing the risk of #flooding downstream. Communities downstream of the dam are strongly advised to be on high alert and desist from attempting to cross flooded rivers.”
