According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care report ending 26 January 2025, 26 801 measles cases and 17 deaths have so far been recorded in Zimbabwe.
“Weekly disease surveillance for week ending 26 January 2025, 15 measles cases and 0 deaths were reported. The cases were reported from Mashonaland Central (5), Mashonaland East (3),Harare (3), Midlands (2), Matabeleland North
(1) and Mashonaland West (1). Cumulative figures are 27 cases and 0 deaths,”said the report.
“Of the reported cases, 3 059 were from under five years of age. The provinces that reported the highest number of cases were Mashonaland East (1 034) and Mashonaland Central (1015). Cumulative figures are 26 801 cases & 17 deaths.”
The country has so far recorded 3 701 Malaria cases and 11 deaths.
“Weekly disease surveillance for week ending 26 January 1515 MALARIA cases and two deaths were reported. Two deaths were reported from Chimanimani in
Manicaland, 163 cases were five years old . Manicaland 755 and Mashonaland West 219 had the highest record. Cumulative figs are 3 701 and 11 deaths.”
Over 2600 influenza cases were reported during the week under review, bringing the cumulative number to 9 559.
“2 691 Influenza cases and 0 deaths were reported. The provinces that reported the highest number of influenza cases were Manicaland (882) and Mashonaland West (791). Cumulative figures for influenza are 9 559 and 0 deaths.
“24 cholera cases & 1 death were reported. The cases were reported from Mazowe District (23) in Mashonaland Central Province. Cumulative figures for cholera are 107 cases, 1 suspected death.
“A total of 360 common diarrhoea cases and 6 deaths were reported. The deaths were reported from Sally Mugabe Hospital (3) in Harare, Bulilima District (1) in Matabeleland South, Masvingo District (1) in Masvingo, UBH (1) in Bulawayo.”
