According to a ministry of Health and Child Care weekly diseases surveillance report ending 19 January 2025, 1048 malaria cases have been recorded in the country while the cumulative number of deaths has reached nine.
Read the report:
“1 048 malaria cases & 5 deaths were reported. The deaths were reported from Mutare District 1 in Manicaland, Sanyati District 1 in Mashonaland West, Chiredzi District (1) in Masvingo, Sally Mugabe Hospital 1 & Parirenyatwa Hospital 1.”
“In Harare. Of the reported cases, 131 (12.5 %) were from under five years of age. The provinces that reported the highest number of cases were Manicaland 665 and Mashonaland West 133. Cumulative figures for malaria cases are 2 186 and 9 deaths.”
The report adds that there were four new suspected cases of measles.

“Four new suspected measles cases were reported this week ,Mashonaland  West 1, Mashonaland East 1 and Harare Metropolitan Province 2. Cumulative figures for suspected measles are 12 cases and no deaths.”
The ministry said seven cases of Anthrax were recorded.
“Seven anthrax cases and 0 deaths were reported. The cases were reported from Gokwe North District 5 & South 1 in Midlands and Sanyati District 1 in Mashonaland West. Cumulative figures for anthrax cases are 19 & 0 deaths.”
