According to the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA), the dams levels average capacity as of January 22, 2025 has passed the 70 percent mark.
Said ZINWA in a statement:

“The current rains being received in various parts of the country continue to drive dam levels up with the national dam level average now past the 70% mark, a development that significantly boosts the country’s water security status,” reads the statement.
“As of January 22, 2025, the national dam level average has risen to 70. 9% from 69. 3% on January 20.
“Dams such as Exchange, Zhovhe, Ngwenya, Manyuchi, Pollards, Tokwane, Masholomoshe, Matezva, Lower Mguza and Tshongokwe, Chiwake and Shangani are now full. There were however significant gains recorded in dams such as Mtshabezi, Sebakwe, Insukamini, Karoi, Mazowe, Bubi-Lupane, Mgululu, Biri, Arcadia, Mangwe, Ingwizi, Bangala and Ngezi. Water levels are expected to keep improving as the rainy season continues.”
The rains have given hopes of a bumper harvest to some farmers following a prolonged dry spell in December which saw maize crop in some provinces, wilting.
